Desiree Williams is a Native of Chicago, IL. She worked 3 years for the Cook County Circuit Court and 12 years for Motorola Cellular Division in Arlington Heights and Libertyville, IL. She attended Northwestern Business College, then went on to pursue her dream of owning a hair salon. She attended Pivot Point Cosmetology School in Evanston, IL. Desiree has owned and operated two hair salons and has successfully been in the salon business for 19 years in northern Lake County, Illinois. Desiree has lived in Kenosha for the last 25 years with her husband and two sons.
Desiree decided to get involved after the outcome of the 2016 Presidential Election. She realized the way to effect change in our government is within the local community through an organization seeking similar values she holds dear; family, community, fighting against racism, discrimination and inequalities of any kind.
Desiree is passionate about getting everyone registered to vote, starting with the high schools and local colleges. In order to assist in the next election and increase awareness of how important it is for everyone to have a voice in who their government representatives and policy makers will be we all must cast our votes. Desiree would like the young people of today to know they can make a difference and the future of this country is worth fighting for!
She’ is very aware of and sensitive to the challenges of the communities and the current state of our country. That is why it is a privilege and an honor to volunteer with Forward Kenosha, a politically oriented group focused on protecting civil rights and advocating an inclusive agenda in local, state and national politics. An organization that shows not only what we can achieve individually, but also what we can accomplish as a community when we support each other.
