Just eight years ago, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded off the coast of Louisiana, spilling millions of gallons of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico and triggering a catastrophe. Coastal communities were economically devastated... fishing operations abruptly halted… and thousands of mammals, birds, and sea turtles perished.
We should be investing in clean, renewable energy, not risking our coastal waters and communities just to lock in new sources of carbon pollution fueling climate change.
